Im aware that a "revival" may be in the works for Evita. It has always been a dream of mine to direct and produce this show on broadway, but I digress lol (maybe next time). This topic may have already been discussed but I dont think it has been too recently. Who would you like to see as Eva? Now lets be realistic. As much as I love Idina, she would not make the greatest Eva Peron.
In my opinion, Id love to see either Kate Levering or Alice Ripley play the part. I know Kate doesnt have the strongest voice, but hers kind of reminds me of Madonnas. Its sweet and yet powerful at times. She is also very young looking and could bring great dancing to the show. Maybe even choreograph it as well? Alice though I know has a strong voice. She is wonderful as well. I also think Michelle (from Wicked) would be a good Eva. They are all young enough and all have great voices. Who are your picks?
I've never thought about Michelle, but I think it might work.
David walked into the valley
With a stone clutched in his hand
He was only a boy
But he knew someone must take a stand
There will always be a valley
Always mountains one must scale
There will always be perilous waters
Which someone must sail

Yes, this topic was discussed in depth a couple of weeks ago, but I never get tired of plugging my favorite for this role - Rachel York! Broadwaybaby87, what can we do to make this happen???
Well, you asked, so here goes. The abridged Rachel York Broadway and television bio:
"City of Angels" - Mallory/Avril "Les Miserables" - Fantine (replacement) "Putting It Together" - an off-Broadway Sondheim review with Julie Andrews; Drama Desk Award nominee "Victor/Victoria" - Norma Cassidy; Drama Desk Award Winner (she was robbed of a Tony nomination!) "The Scarlet Pimpernel" - Marguerite, replacement "Kiss Me, Kate" - Lilli Vanessi/Kate, national and London tours of the 2000 Broadway revival; also available on DVD "Sly Fox" - Miss Fancy, then Mrs. Truckle in the run that just ended prior to the RNC
Her most famous TV role was Lucille Ball in the CBS Movie of the Week called "Lucy" which aired last year. She earned rave reviews for her performance.
Rachel York is an amazing talent with megawatt star power. Go rent "Kiss Me, Kate" and you'll see what I mean.
Caren Lyn Manuel, without a doubt. She definitley doesn't get enough of the limelight she deserves, and she has a killer voice. She's played the role before outside the U.S, I believe.
"I really liked the show--Wish I saw Boy's Night...Am I allowed as I am not a boy anymore:)"-duffyny1
Kate Levering could NEVER handle the role vocally...that's definite. Some very interesting suggestions have been made, actually. I think, as much as we don't like to hear about her, Eden Espinosa would be incredible in the role. She looks like an Eva Peron, and there's no doubt about her vocal chops. Otherwise, DEFINITELY RACHEL YORK. She is phenomenal, really...an amazing, amazing talent. Great presence... Caren Lyn Manuel sounds interesting. I saw her in Fame and she did a great job.
I think someone more Spanish looking should take over, though...so I don't know if Rachel would actually work so well...I'd go with Eden.
