the producers... i'd put money on it! I also think dreamgirls might happen soon, it's a long shot but you never know!

They should do saigon... i might just raise the millions needed and do it myself!

Not PRODUCERS: THE MOVIE MUSICAL. That movie was the movie, the musical was based on. Both being Mel Brooks creations. The first act is nearly exactly like the movie, but then things change in the second, at least that's what I remember, it's been a while.

Miss Saigon, Parade and Ragtime -- all with serious retooling -- could work.

I'd also love to see the dialogue in The Last Five Years expanded for the screen.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

How can we have an opinion on something that's inevitable?

The Producers IS being made into a movie, as are many other musicals.

You haven't been here long enough to complain. Shut up and listen. And welcome to BWW.

I think they should do Wicked with the OBC. The only problem with Broadway becoming more popular is the fact that they are taking mainstream actors who can't sing or act as well as someone on Broadway can, and that really bothers me. Of course that exception is RENT, and I realize this, but if they take Wicked and don't put in at least Cheno and Idina, I would be so angry... but maybe thats just me

i'd be a little mad too if Kristin and Idina weren't asked to do the movie (granted it is ever made into one) but as long as they put people in that aren't gonna stink big time then i don't think i'd be too angry.

Omg seriously. Have some of you people been living under a rock!?
(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."

Whatever happened to Urinetown? And wasn't Avenue Q supposed to be made into a movie?
But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

re: THE NEXT MUSICAL TO MAKE IT ON THE BIG SCREEN...

There are many musicals whos rights have been purchased by movie studios (ie Urinetown, Sweeny, Les Miz) but have not come anywhere close to production. Sweenys rights were bought like ten years ago and it still doesnt have a director so, hey it may never be made. The Producers (Dec. 21 i believe) and Rent (Nov. 11) have both been filmed and are in post production phase with release dates already set. Other movies are in limbo, Dreamgirls is still being cast, and Hairspray is being pushed back b/c Jack O'Brien had to pull out.
