In case anyone is interested this show runs 2 hours with a 10 min intermission. That being said, it's 2 interminably boring hours.
The show description makes mention of the paranormal world so I thought this would be a kind of ghost story with chilling moments. The ghost thing serves more as a very contrived plot point to allow the main character to do whatever. Honestly there really isn't a story here. It feels more like some feminist propaganda. There are two acts with no real through-line and the first act feels endless.
The acting isn't great either. John Doman (who I love on TV) could not remember his lines and stumbled through them the whole time. When Samantha Soule was playing off him in the first act she couldn't either. There were moments where she would stop speaking before someone else responded. Other times the actors just kept repeating lines in different ways until they got it right. It was to the point of distraction and drew me even more out of the play.
If you look at the production art on the website you'll see a tree in front of a knotty wood wall with a window. Unfortunately you'll find nothing that interesting on the stage. The set is pretty unexciting in the first act and changes slightly in the second but still looked bad.
Emily Schwend is having another play produced at Second Stage Uptown later this summer but I'll definitely be passing after seeing this stinker.

Yikes! Sounds like I'll be skipping this one.
For the record though, the other show at Second Stage Uptown this summer is not written by the same playwright. It's written by Fernanda Coppel. :)

The first act is a huge bore with just sitting & talking (with a certain someone forgetting lines left & right), but the second act becomes quite thrilling and supernatural. If you like what happens just before Act I closes, I think you'll enjoy Act II a lot. Luckily the first act is over after 50 minutes so we can get to the thrilling second act even quicker. They should cut Act I down to 10 minutes and cut out the intermission and they'd have a great play.
