The Lowry in Salford Quays is to become the northern home of the Royal Opera House!

SADM2 can sleep well now.
(It's sad when a queen gets threatened with being thrown from her Palace!!! Xx)

I'm not quite sure that's true.

The Stage reports that The Palace would still host opera, whilst The Lowry would host ballet and dance.

Bit confused, why Manchester needs a full time opera house, isn't a ordinary theatre that opera or ballet can visit, as well as plays and musicals not good enough, no disrespect to Manchester but I would think the market would be very limited, as it is here in London.

true.....it's not saved yet!
Ben Bradshaw has thrown his weight behind it...
ATG are behind it (it would make sense for them to dump the Palace and develop the Opera House, or visa-versa)
They're now looking at a duel house mode - Palace will do Opera and Lowry will do dance.....thats the agreement they've come to!
