Due to the number of new plays just opened or currently in previews on Broadway, Theatre Development Fund (TDF) has added a second "Play Only" window at the new TKTS Booth ? a popular source for same-day discounted tickets ? in Times Square at Broadway and 47th Street.
The "Play Only" windows at TKTS "stimulate attendance at non-musical productions" and get tickets in playgoers' hands more quickly, TDF announced April 14. At the "Play Only" windows (which are windows No. 11 and 12 at new TKTS Booth), "there is rarely a wait for theatregoers to purchase same-day discount tickets for dramas and comedies playing on and Off-Broadway during regular TKTS hours," according to TDF.

rarely a wait
Can anyone confirm this? If so, I'll be going to plays a LOT more often. I barely ever use TKTS in the first place because I don't feel like standing out in the cold for five hours only to get to the window and be told they just sold the last ticket to the turista in front of me.
Nothing's worth that - except maybe Ethel Merman in Sweeney Todd.
I think it's easier to print out a discount code and bring it to the box office the day of.
The play only line is much shorter, but also much slower. However with two windows now open, hopefully the line will go fast.

How long would you say the wait is?
Every time I've gone to the "Plays Only" window, nobody has been there at all.

So...no wait for a TKTS window? Sounds...too good to be true.
Truely it depends on when your there. Many times the play only line only has 3 or 4 people in it, but that is only after the booth has been open for an hour or so. Right when it opens I've seen the play only line be more than 50 people long, but that is on a busy Saturday night. TKTS is a game of waiting, or timing.
May I ask WHERE the play only line IS...or can you just go to the front ?
On the Broadway side of the booth.
I had been to the play only line once for Equus and then I was going to go there again awhile later for another play (forgot which one) and when I asked one of the guards working at the booth where the play only line was, he said that they didn't have one anymore. I am glad that they are now having two.
Funny story, when I was on the play only line for Equus, there was someone in front of me who asked for tickets for a musical and they gave it to him. I kind of thought that the people working there would know which shows were plays and which shows were musicals so that this kind of thing couldn't happen. I guess I was wrong.
What's the point of having Play only windows, if there isn't a play only line?

I don`t know if it was just because it was for a Wednesday matinee performance but last Wednesday I was in the play only line from about 11:30 am to 12:45 - a second window will be a great improvement.
