I usually catch shows in NYC, but I will be in Toronto when If/Then is there and I really want to catch it but do not want to pay full prices. Does anyone know if Toronto typically has Rush or a TKTS Equivalent?
Keep checking the If/Then page at mirvish.com but it's doubtful they will offer rush. There is a discount ticket booth at Yonge/Dundas Square (called T.O. Tix) but again, it's doubtful they'd have If/Then tickets. Sorry! Keep checking closer to the start of the run, sometimes you can find deals if it isn't selling well.
If/Then is only in town for four weeks. Most of the main season subscription shows at Mirvish stay for 7 weeks. The subscriber newsletter says that they may have to put the subscribers in seats that are worse than our usual seats because they are having so many fewer performances than usual, so I would guess that they probably won't have tons of additional non-subscriber seats to sell, especially compared to most of their other main-season subscription shows. And Mirvish doesn't have rush (i've asked at the box office before and have been told that they never do rush).
Discount codes are usually announced in their email newsletters, which you can sign up for at the mirvish.com website even if you're not a subscriber, and as Tag said, they are usually only offered if a show is not selling well. T.O.Tix also has email newsletters several times a week saying what is offered for the day/week/weekend, and the Mirvish shows listed there are most often listed at full-price.
Edited to add: If you usually catch shows in NYC, then you may be pleased to note that shows in Toronto will effectively all be offering you a 26% discount if you use US dollars to pay for stuff, due to the current exchange rate with the Canadian dollar. On the other hand, it's a crappy time for Canadians to go and catch shows in NYC; i've had to cut back on my NYC theatre weekends this year.
