I'm planning on getting tickets to a show from TKTS for a matinee on Sunday. What time should I get there by in order to have a good chance of getting good seats?
Right now I'm in New Jersey but I'll be staying in New York Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday so I'll be taking the train in on Sunday. I need to know what time to be at TKTS so I know what time I need to take the train. Thanks!

I can't really give you an exact time because as I understand it, most of the theaters send tickets over to TKTS right up almost to curtain time. So it's not like TKTS starts out with a batch of tickets and when they're gone, they're gone--their supply keeps getting replenished. I'd say you'd have just as much chance of getting a good seat at 2:30 as you would at 11:00.
That said, if it were me (I? sorry, it's late), I'd probably try to get there at about 1:00. I think the lines are really long at opening time, 11:00 (all those people who think they have to be there the minute it opens). By 1:00 the line might be shorter and you still should have a good selection of shows. You can get your tickets and still have time for lunch at the Edison!

if I wanted to walk from Times Square or even take a taxi to that location where would I go to walk or what would I say to the cab driver. Because next sunday i'm just gonna get Xanadu seats from it and want to go to it.
ALSO is it true that they wouldn't have the tickets for Xanadu there because on tdf it says they only sell evening performances on sundays?

Posted: 8/11/07 at 1:25amI went to TKTS on Wednesday morning to get tickets for the matinee, and I got there around 8:45, and I beleive it opened at 10. There was plenty to choose from when it was my turn. Hope this helps!

I'm not sure what you're asking about Xanadu?
It would be a looong walk from Times Square down to the Seaport. I would go to the Times Square subway station and take the 2 or 3 train downtown to Fulton Street. When you get out you would walk east down Fulton Street to Front Street.

This should help: http://www.entertainment-link.com/tkts.asp
If looking for just a single or pair you can get lucky latter in the day and not deal with the throngs. You need to be flexible and tough with the people in the booth, they tend to want to stuff the tix they get for your 1st choice down your throat. If the seats suck and you have a plan B ask for what is available for that show even if they make it seem like that 5 foot walk back to the ticket area is a hike through Siberia. Those people need to be a little nicer.

Thanks for the help - it sounds like our plan is to get to TKTS around 1, like you said. I'm glad that's a good idea. And it's good to know about them getting more tickets. The people we're staying with thought they only got tickets at the beginning of the day.
Thanks again!
