Hello everyone!
What's better? I find TKTs very easy to use, and I don't quite understand where and how to get discount codes.
Discount codes.
TKTS always has ridiculously long lines, you don't really get a selection of where you sit, and so on. Discount codes are really easy to use if the tickets are being bought through Telecharge but the HELL that is Ticketmaster is a different story when it comes to discount codes...I find Ticketmaster discount codes to be very confusing. But I hate Ticketmaster in general.
I much prefer codes.
TKTS is good for spur of the moment show plans, but honestly, I will pay a few bucks more to use the discount codes at the box office or online. That way you are given more flexibility with your seat and you can go into the city with a plan of seeing a show that you really want to see.
TKTS is better for people who live in the city or tourists staying in the city. If you live an more than an hour away like I do it's often better to use a discount code. That way you don't make a $20 (or more) trip into the city and end up not being able to see what you want.
Wicked, what do you find confusing about ticketmaster codes? I've never had an issue.
I wouldn't say Ticketmaster is difficult.....just clumsy and slow.
Telecharge is quicker and cleaner to use.
^ And you can actually get a human being on the phone if need be...then again, it is called TELEcharge.
Feb. 28 - Looped, Feb. 28 - Next to Normal, March 4 - Hair, March 11 - A Little Night Music, March 24 - Time Stands Still, April 6 - La Cage Aux Folles, April 10 - Anyone Can Whistle (City Center), April 10 - Looped, May 9 - Enron, May 15 - A Little Night Music, May 15 - A Behanding In Spokane, May 30 - A Behanding In Spokane, May 30 - A Little Night Music, June 20 - A Little Night Music, June 23 - Red, June 23 - Sondheim on Sondheim, July 13 - A Little Night Music, July 18 - The Grand Manner (Lincoln Center)
The nice thing about discount codes is being able to bring them to the box-office itself, and avoid paying a lot of fees, and sometimes you can get discount codes to shows that aren't available on TKTS (The Lion King and for instance).
You can get a human on the phone at both telecharge and ticketmaster. The only downfall to calling ticketmaster is that they don't accept audience rewards numbers so you don't get points. In order to get points you have to order online.
As far as finding Discount Codes go, brodwaybox.com is a great resource.
nytix.com, typically, has longer-lasting codes but don't offer off-broadway. They do cost $4 but I find it worth it. I just wish they had the option to sign up for the full year at a discounted rate instead of re-registering every month.
The big discount sites:
playbill.com
nytix.com
broadwayworld.com
theatremania.com
Most offer the same codes and offers but, as I said, nytix is usually longer. I get emails from all four of them daily.
I think I understand Wicked...discounts are more accessible through Telecharge (as you can type it through BroadwayOffers or click a link that sets it up for you) as opposed to Ticketmaster as you always have to type it in (not that it is difficult, just more annoying when you want to search multiple dates).
Great thread as I am coming over from London next month and going to see lots of shows, so discounts are greatly needed, helps to see more shows.
Is there any discounts available for South Pacific please?
There is a South Pacific discount code out there but it's only good for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Will you let me know where I can get this from please?
broadwaybox.com: South Pacific
Thanks for the heads up, that offer is now expired, is there anymore? If not do you think there be another one or are we heading into busy season?
The summer always picks up quite a bit. And with South Pacific selling tickets at an average routinely about $100 (even during slow months), I don't foresee a new discount soon.
The nytix code is good until July 2
are you a student? you might want to look some student (and general, for that matter) rushes.
