lol...NOONE has anything to say about it?? wow
Have one more slot for my trip to NYC... was really thinking about it...but was wondering what the buzz was, if its going to be any good... or if I should go with something else.
if it's the one i saw in workshop, it's okay....two couples breaking up/getting married, crosscut, music okay....with a twist....are u thinking of choosing it for the cost or cuz it's the only thing playing that night or what?

no, nothing to do with cost...
I have seen most of the "mainstream" shows and was just looking for something new. Its a Sat night, so everything is playing...
would have loved to have seen Hello Again but it will be closed. Or the Normal Heart but, it wont be open....
any suggestions?

Check out The Other Place at MCC; it's on TDF and only about $32 with a discount code, and Laurie Metcalf is giving a performance for the ages...there's threads all over these boards raving about her and personally, I was blown away. Kin is good if it'll still be around when you're here.

I saw this show on Saturday, and really enjoyed it. The cast was very talented, and the story was interesting. I couldn't help drawing parallels to "The Last 5 Years" story-wise, and also parallels to the music in this show being similar to Jason Robert Brown's music in general, but the staging is completely different, and definitely more of a comedy. Overall, I'd recommend seeing it!
I don't know anything about the NY production, but I have the Chicago cast recording and saw it mounted in Melbourne recently. I don't mind it, it has some appeal, but as far as a L5Y comparison, it's a watery replica. The characters are nowhere near as finely drawn, the score is nowhere near as strong, memorable or meaningful.
Cute and enjoyable, but not on the same level as L5Y (imho).

"the score is nowhere near as strong, memorable or meaningful."
And that score is DREADFUL!!
Saw this tonight. It was pretty bland and generic, but harmless I guess. The actors sounded good and tried hard, but you wonder why this was written.
The music is Jason Robert Brown inspired, but the lyrics are so nondescript and cliche I wonder how this got past development. Every song seemed to have stuff like, "tomorrow is the day, I'll find my way, there's a big world out there, glad I have someone who cares." I mean I'm completely making those up, but they may actually have been the lyrics too.
The characters were never defined. The biggest problem though was the ending. ******SPOILER***** I mean they tear up the divorce papers! Come on! I'm so glad it's that easy to patch things up. So unrealistic it was almost insulting. ******End Spoiler*****
My biggest question is for the York. Why decide to put this on? (Falling For Eve and Road to Qatar too for that matter.) I LOVE the Muftis and would never miss one, but I have found much disappointment with the original main stage shows of late. Are these the best shows that can be found? I really don't think so. What is the mission with putting on these new works?

i saw this show this week. it was cute and the actors were amazing. especially matt hydzick and autumn hurlbert (their chemistry made ME feel amorous!). the show is definitely not genius, but it's only 75 minutes. cute.
