I played Mary Sunshine in a Lansing production of Chicago a few years ago (and only auditioned because I wanted to play her and I love the song), but I kind of agree that it doesn't really need to be there and the whole Mary Sunshine subplot is kind of pointless. I know it has to do with the whole vaudeville aspect, but she's only in like 4 scenes and it's basically a waste. It's still a fun song to sing though.

well considering the show is about the media, and how it affects a lot of things, mary sunshine is a pivotal role. However, the song is stupid and poinless in the show, and doesnt have a good tune. Its a black hole, and i would want to cut it

Technically, yes it is wrong (illegal) to cut it. It goes against the rights and royalties agreement.

And probably not going anywhere soon (unless he retires which isn't anticipated). He has a pretty large leeway down in Houston.
