I played Mary Sunshine in a Lansing production of Chicago a few years ago (and only auditioned because I wanted to play her and I love the song), but I kind of agree that it doesn't really need to be there and the whole Mary Sunshine subplot is kind of pointless. I know it has to do with the whole vaudeville aspect, but she's only in like 4 scenes and it's basically a waste. It's still a fun song to sing though.

Technically, yes it is wrong (illegal) to cut it. It goes against the rights and royalties agreement.
