thanks but was that it? Then i am currious why his KN show was being taped? maybe cbs? I love how they show his hand and a guitar by the way!
I think it's hard to compare. I mean, there are lots of movie actors who have millions and millions of fans, but it lacks the personal connection that a lot of us are lucky enough to have had with Adam, or any of our favourite theatre people.
That said, it's all in comparison, I guess. I mean, Adam's fan base seems to be fairly small, but very loyal. I know there's a pretty decent number of really hardcore fans, who don't miss a thing, and then there are more mild fans, who like him, and bother when it's convenient. I'm not sure if "rabid" is the word - I mean, that's the word they use for Idina, and this is totally different.
Personally, it's become all about just that. Personal connection. It's so different when these are people that you don't just watch on a screen, but that actually peform for you in the flesh.... people that you can actually have contact with. It's become like that for me with Adam. There are a few others that I'm like this about, but Adam is my big one... probably almost always has been, with a couple of fluctuating exceptions. Anyway, I think it's all about being able to interact, and having the luxury that we don't get with "Hollywood" actors. Seeing him do all of these great things doesn't make me happy just because "ohmyGod I get to see Adam and he's hot and I love him," but it's really, truly because I care, and I want the best for him. I mean it every time I say how proud I am of him.
How's that for a long answer? I guess with the movie threatening to change things, I think about that a lot.
ETA - thanks, Chloe. Now I know I haven't completely lost my mind.
zippy - I heard they taped KF because Adam needed at least one solid minute of footage for The View, but I guess he decided to use something different.
"I guess with the movie threatening to change things, I think about that a lot."
I've been thinking about that alot too. It's gonna change everything.
Emcee, rabid is just one of my favorite words...I didn't mean it in any real way.
And...wow. You ARE verbose, aren't you?
i really wonder how big the cast will get with the movie. BUt yeah what emcee said, the theater fans are so small compared to movie fans. It is also more personnal seeing someone live. I feel more of a connection yada yada yada.
I know, I have a chronic writing-too-much problem.
As far as the film, and Adam in particular... I was worried quite a bit when this all first came up. Over the past few months, I've seen that he is first and foremost a musician, and always will be. This is what he was meant to do. Hopefully that'll hold true, even if the movie skyrockets. I worried a lot that I'd never see him again on a stage, and that I'd never get to meet him again. I wish him all of the success in the world, but the selfish part of me would be sad. I'd miss him so much. I guess we'll wait and see...
"I have a chronic writing-too-much problem."
Thank god!
Thank God that I admit my problem? LOL!
"Thank God that I admit my problem?"
No, no, no - thank god you write those great long reviews that can partially make up for not actually being there.
aw, thanks!!
Well, I decided to fight with the crappy computer I have at home *makes note to get a new computer*, cause I couldn't wait until tomorrow. Loved, loved, loved his performance! Pretty much what you've all already said. Did anyone else near about fall off their chair when he sang the final 'I'm with you' and stared straight at the camera right at "us"?

No, no, no - thank god you write those great long reviews that can partially make up for not actually being there.
Can I please get in on the Emcee luv and second this - your reviews may be long, but your writing is always very well put together and for this I can not thank you enough, since I miss out on a lot!!!
awww.
*blush*
Antother thank you to emcee! Detailed reviews are great!!!!
hey everyone im back
both of my parents were fortunate enough to have me tape adam so that i can force them to watch it once they got home from work :) and my mom had tears in her eyes when the performance ended! *
anyways as for adams popularity after the rent movie.. im a little nervous.. is it just me or do us adam fans feel a little protective over him? not crazy stalker protective, but i mean im worried that once the movie comes out every teenybopper in the world is gonna be bouncing around singing rent songs saying LIKE OMG I LOVE ADAM (thank god the movies rated R but hey who knows)
i ran into a friend of mine the other day whos a semi broadway fan and i told him that rent was becoming a movie and i couldnt wait cuz most of the obc signed on and he said "u know adams gonna be real big and famous now"
in a way THATS GREAT! rock on adam, sell your own cds and get a huge following... just dont forget us lovely bww fans that have been there from the beginning :) (which he never would of course, but u know what im sayin)
Hey, I'm back from when I left...
So I wanted to jump on the "Emcee is great" bandwagon and thank you for you very informative and detailed reviews as well.
I have a bandwagon!
And I'll admit it. I'm selfish, and protective. It's become a personal thing for me, and I don't want to lose him. Not crazy, not a stalker, just attached. I want success, but I don't want distance. *hopes*
Oh, I'll be on the bandwagon. Will there be cookies? *bounces hopefully* Oreos, maybe?
I forced--er, allowed both my parents to watch it. My mother is now in love with him, and my dad said during his little riffs at the end (*eargasm*) "He should write some more lyrics!"
He's kind of gruff.
Sure. You can have cookies, so long as you supply them.
"He should write some more lyrics!" That. Is. Priceless.
My mother haaaaaaaaaates him. She thinks he's adorable as.... as I don't know what, but she can't take his voice. She seems intrigued by what I know about his personality, etc, and asks what he's like, but can't bare to hear him sing for more than about four minutes at a time.
My dad refers to him as "that guy" and says I'm more concerned with seeing him than with school.
I haven't got it THAT bad...
SHOCKHORROR, the CBS morning show is on EARLIER here than on the east coast! I have to get up BEFORE SIX! My dad sternly vetoed my idea of staying up instead of getting up.
*sigh* Adam better appreciate this.
eep. Do they film it out there?
Well, wait. six your time is nine our time.... so I guess that makes sense.
Just go back to bed after he's on!
I can't. My dad'll be up by then, and he's reeeeaaaly noisy.
You can stomach being tired for a day.
FOR THIS!
*dies*
Yup, worth it!
He sent me to oblivion!
