I think it's hard to compare. I mean, there are lots of movie actors who have millions and millions of fans, but it lacks the personal connection that a lot of us are lucky enough to have had with Adam, or any of our favourite theatre people.
That said, it's all in comparison, I guess. I mean, Adam's fan base seems to be fairly small, but very loyal. I know there's a pretty decent number of really hardcore fans, who don't miss a thing, and then there are more mild fans, who like him, and bother when it's convenient. I'm not sure if "rabid" is the word - I mean, that's the word they use for Idina, and this is totally different.
Personally, it's become all about just that. Personal connection. It's so different when these are people that you don't just watch on a screen, but that actually peform for you in the flesh.... people that you can actually have contact with. It's become like that for me with Adam. There are a few others that I'm like this about, but Adam is my big one... probably almost always has been, with a couple of fluctuating exceptions. Anyway, I think it's all about being able to interact, and having the luxury that we don't get with "Hollywood" actors. Seeing him do all of these great things doesn't make me happy just because "ohmyGod I get to see Adam and he's hot and I love him," but it's really, truly because I care, and I want the best for him. I mean it every time I say how proud I am of him.
How's that for a long answer?

I guess with the movie threatening to change things, I think about that a lot.
ETA - thanks, Chloe. Now I know I haven't completely lost my mind.
zippy - I heard they taped KF because Adam needed at least one solid minute of footage for The View, but I guess he decided to use something different.
A work of art is an invitation to love.
