Taboo vs DOTV

Posted: 11/5/03 at 3:30pmThe only real draw DOTV had was Michael Crawford. TABOO has Boy George, Raul Esparza and as much as I hate to say it, Rosie O'Donnell, attached to it so it might out-run DOTV. Much not by much. : )

Posted: 11/5/03 at 3:50pmLord, I hope not. Taboo has some problems but I enjoyed it much more than Dance of the Vampires! Although with all the bad buzz about Taboo, I think my expectations were pretty low so I was pleasantly surprised I enjoyed it as much as I did. (I also saw it in previews in London, where I thought it was okay with some terrific performances, but fairly unremarkable. It's changed a lot since then, though.) I thought I would like DoTV, since it had a lot of people in the cast that I enjoy, but I found it somewhat excruciating.

Posted: 11/8/03 at 10:02pmI didn't think DOTV was bad at all. I really liked it. I think That Taboo will be a flop as well as DOTV, but i think it will close faster than DOTV did.

Posted: 11/8/03 at 11:39pmOk, well now I can weigh in on my own question--I saw Taboo tonight. And, I really enjoyed it. I can see that the book needs definite work, but as for the music, I was truly wowed. Boy George has written some excellent new music. Stranger In this World was brilliant! I really hope this show doesnt bomb just bc of the controversey surrounding it. Now, you should know I also loved DOTV, so my tastes may differ from most, but this is a show worth seeing. I hope for its own sake, it has a long, successful run. And I cant wait for the CD. if the show fails, the cd alone needs to still be released. its one of george's best.

Posted: 11/9/03 at 12:08amlistening to the London soundtrack intrigues me because I can't imagine what they could be doing up there. I like DOTV, thought it was OK, and think it could have been better. From what I have heard, I am assuming that it's going well, because everyone I have spoken to has liked it. I guess we'll have to see how the press takes it.

Posted: 11/9/03 at 12:31amI think Taboo might be the next DOTV! I saw Taboo tonite, and unfortunately, it was not all that spectacular as is. I feel like they need another month or so to work out the kinks, and polish it up.
