I haven't read his memoirs to see how close the movie was to his original book, but how close do we think the musical will be to the movie? Could this really work?

No one wanted to see the movie, so why would anyone want to see this? And this is just going to look like a rip-off of HAIR.
No it won't. Hippies aren't exclusive to Hair and Taking Woodstock is not about hippies.

Yuck.
Michael Lang did not write Taking Woodstock. Elliot Tiber did. This is an entirely different book, and while I haven't read it, I've heard it is quite good.
Does that mean I want to see a musical of it? I'm thinking not so much...but I'm always willing to check things out.
I guess I wasn't quite clear, or perhaps I'm just dead wrong. I thought that the movie was based off his memoirs, with Elliot Tiber as the screenwriter. It looks like the proposed musical would utilize the memoir as well as the movie.
It could be interesting, but another jukebox musical..... "must we continue this charade?"
Actually the movie was based off of Elliot Tiber's memoirs.
So I'm dead wrong, good to know! Thanks for clearing that up for me!
I read Michael Lang's memoir, "Road to Woodstock," and thought it was quite fascinating. It provided insight into how the event came together, the difficulties that were faced, and included stories from the artists/people who were there. I highly recommend the book. I must admit that I never thought of it playing out as a Broadway musical but I'm definitely intrigued by the idea now.
It's an amazing film, but musical...don't see that working.
I agree, "Taking Woodstock" was a great night at the cinema.
It's nice to be agreed with.
Again: we're talking two different stories.
Taking Woodstock written by Elliot Tiber, made into current movie (Terribley written book, imho.)
The Road to Woodstock written by Lang....THAT is what the musical will be based on.
About the same event, but different viewpoints.
