Posted: 11/7/08 at 10:45pmBummer. Guess I'm going Sunday. I hope it doesn't sell out - but I guess that's probably not going to happen?

<< Good riddance to bad rubbish. Dreck like this shouldn't have been allowed to come within even 5 miles of Manhattan.
>>
Some would say the same of other shows on Broadway that have been running for years. ("SA" and "Spamalot" come to mind.)
Its all a matter of personal preference.

Posted: 11/8/08 at 1:02amThe cast was saying at the stagedoor tonight that they were told tuesday that this sunday is going to be the closing date. The producers said that if they could sell enough to go to the 16th then they would. Announcing the show closing on the 16th was wishful thinking on the producers part.

Posted: 11/8/08 at 1:13amWell, I guess I'll try for a student ticket tomorrow. It was between this and Spring Awakening....but since SA will live to see another weekend, might as well give ATOTC a shot.

Testing1232: Thank you. I totally agree. I mean, I haven't seen SA so I can't say for sure if it deserves to go, but Spamalot was only ok and definitely should go.

"...I was glad I saw it. What's more important is that people encourage this kind of passion and dedication to the theatre. The two lead producers of this show put their heart & soul into this for the past 10 years. Not to mention their time and lots of money. To treat their dreams with such disdain and nastiness is not right. I understand why it did not do well but can we be encouraging please of new people taking new risks in this industry "
Well said. Too many cynics on this board for me...I believe in dreams, dedication to those, AND talent, all of which ATOTC had. It is truly a shame when a show of this caliber artistically--and which has moved EVERY audience that has gone to see it (except for some "isolated" individuals), has to close like this. I am sad for those who have been deprived of experiencing it, but hopeful for the possible tour plans.

No prob !! I could have mentioned a ton of other shows...
I know people that think that "Phantom" was the worst thing ever, and its been running for 55 years... You can go on and on--- some like Vanilla... some Chocolate... Simple as that.

Just got back from the matinee- James gave a short little speech about the show closing prior to giving his spiel about BC/EFA....
The audience seemed to adore the show. Personally, I thought the cast oozed talent and will all hopefully be employed again shortly. As for the show itself, definitely not a fan- a whole list of things I didn't enjoy, but I guess it doesn't really matter since it's shutting its door.

Posted: 11/8/08 at 6:22pmI just got a ticket to see the show again tonight after having seen Equus today and Two Cities last night. Last night Barbour also gave a nice little speech about how the show is closing and was encouraging people to go to the final (at that time) three shows.
