Tamyra's 6 minute short film/ad for H&M is up . she sounds and looks great of course . she performs "and i am not telling you" from Dreamgirls in it. Mary J Blige is also featured and performs another song from Dreamgirls. when watching it play on "medium " as opposed to "high" for better quaility.

That was painful!
A little edgy for a commercial, but Tamyra was fierce and so was Mary J I liked it.

I love that song. My fave from Dreamgirls. Tamyra is not bad.
Looks like two people might be trying to get into the Dreamgirls movie.
Tamyra sure sang her ass off in that song. And it's nice to hear Mary J actually sing instead of the stupid hip hop stuff she's been doing lately. When she started, I was like, "Who is this great singer?" and I saw it was her. She's just not screaming, which is very nice.
Does anyone understand what exactly happened at the end? Tamyra picks up her cell phone and points it at a police officer and then they shoot her. I don't get it.
Maybe if the damn video could play for longer than 10 seconds without stopping to buffer, I would have gotten a better idea of it. I'm still trying to figure out what the whole thing has to do with H&M, a store more commonly found in suburban malls than the ghetto they were supposed to live in.
And am I a geek for noting that she shouldn't have touched his new tattoo without washing her hands first?
They may be in the ghetto, but they've got some damn fly gear on. I wonder where they got it from...

Why, that fly gear is from none other than H&M! j/k
yea...i didnt like it at all. mary j sounded very good on "when i first saw you" though.
And I am telling you...you're not going?
I'm having trouble with the movie. I'll click on it and then it will just say "Denim: A New Soulful Jeans Brand" and ask me if I'd like to watch it again. I'm clicking in the wrong area?
That stunk!
Give that girl a lozenge!! She sounds kinda dry ;(
Tamyra is an amazing singer....I became a fan when i saw her live in "Bombay Dreams"---she was outstanding. She can do no wrong. But on that website, they spelled her last name Grey instead of Gray!!!
Im confused as to why H&M is using all this Dreamgirls music. Are they sponsoring the movie or something? Is Tamyra still campaigning for the part? What? And I can't get the stupid video to open.

Wow! What an amzing talent. Her voice is up there with the all time soul greats and she is so, SO beautiful! Go girl!
I think that both Tamyra and Mary J do a good job, but as Governor Slaton said earlier, the lyric change to "And I am telling you YOU'RE not going" sung to a dying man is so bizarre it's almost like something you'd see on Forbidden Broadway.
what a steaming pile of crap...
that is the most bizarre thing i have ever seen in my life.
Interesting Concept. Not sure I like it, but enh...interesting.
We can rest assured that Ms. Gray won't be Effie. :)
Very interesting.. I still don't know what to think of it. But for all you nit wits.. they changed the music to YOU'RE not going because she was singing to her dying man than just got shot. I didn't understand the ending either, but who really cares. I actually think that Tamyra has a great voice. Although, I thought it sounded as if she was trying to copy Jennifer Holliday just a little too much. But all around, not a terrible rendition, and Mary J. sounded very good! I think it's fun to see R&B stars sing it if they can pull it off. And I think they both pulled it off just fine. I'm not sure I would cast her as Effie, but then again, who are they going to cast? Because whoever they cast, I'm sure everyone on here will tear her apart anyway as they compare her to the untouchable Jennifer Holliday.

Not terrible - but she sounds weird.....

I understand WHY they changed it; I was merely pointing out that it sounded a little jarring (especially if you're familiar with the song, and even if you aren't, you have to admit it seems a bit off). There's really no need to resort to name calling.
As to the ending, I assumed that she was shot because when she reached for the cell phone and then held it out, it looked to the police like she was pointing a gun at him. It also fits into the Romeo and Juliet theme the ad has (Both of them dying).
Oh, and I thought Mary J. Blige was only OK. Did she really need to change the melody so that it was practically unrecognizable at some points?

Kinda bad.
No offense, just my opinion.
Thanks though, always like to hear different renditions,
