So I need some ideas for my first tattoo. I want it to be really meaningful. I am a Broadway junkie. Currently obsessed with Rent, Wicked, Aspects of Love, The Wild Party. Im thinking of going with a "La Vie Boheme" theme. Any ideas?

I believe that there was a whole thread already on this, search for it.
Having 5 tattoos, I can say that you do NOT want something that you are currently obsessed with....as you will regret it.
You want something that has special meaning to you.....and that should NOT be a show you like right now.
It's like the guy in the Army who has his girlfreinds name tattooed on his ass only to break up with her 3 months later
I have no idea how old you are, but you need to think about this some more.
Thanks for the advice. Im nervous because I know it's permanant. I want it to be basic broadway. But not as basic as comedy/tragedy masks combined with some music notes. Im leaning towards more of a starving artist theme. Something that says It's not about money. It's all heart and soul. Not asking much huh?!

What about something like a treble cleft or a Fraiser-esque line drawing of the Manhatten skyline? Very basic and do relate to broadway.
I agree, avoid any shows you are obsessed with at the moment, whether it be Wicked, RENT, whatever. Especially don't ever get a tattoo with actually english words in it, at least in my personal opinion, it tends to be pretty tacky. Just my opinion anyway.
I suggest you find something a little abstract, something with even a double meaning. It might be harder to track down something Broadway with that, but it'll be worth it. Some abstract ideas include the phantom mask, a boat, a cowboy hat, a pair of legs in dance shoes (obviously they are not ideas for you, but just general broadway ideas to get my point across).
Heck you can go for a generic tribal type tattoo and stick something like a witch hat in the middle of it, or change the design slightly to make it relate to broadway. I mean the best thing about getting a tattoo is shopping around, designing it yourself, picking and choosing!
Anyway my only big big suggestion is when you choose your design, sit on it for at least a good 5-6 months. Put in on your mirror or fridge thus you look at it every day. If you still want it after that period, you know it is for you.
Btw. Tell us what you decide in the end. I got mind and I have never regretted it once! In fact I now plan more!
yes, i agree about thinking it out more before you do it. or you could be like me and do a spur of the moment, regret it the next morning type thing. at least its nowhere people can see....
Urban, WELL SAID! And I love the 5 month part.,.........excellent, EXCELLENT post!
Three of my 5 were designed by me. I have never regretted getting any of them.
I thought about my tattoo designs for a year each. Definately don't pick something on the spur of the moment. Choose something and then think about it for at least a few months, and if it is still what you want and you haven't wavered, go for it. Also, do the same with the spot you want it. That can make all the difference, too.

It's clef, not cleft. My opinion, Babe, is that you shouldn't get a tattoo at all.
As someone that regrets 2 of my 3 tattoos, I agree that you have to be CERTAIN it represents you and not just "looks cool".
Try getting the letter 'W' on each butt cheek, that way, when you bend over and touch your toes, it spells WOW!
Or, if you are on your hands and knees, it would spell MOM, but that's up to you.
my friend got "no day but today" tattooed on her thigh. it's hot.
Thanks for all of the input! You have all been so helpful. I agree, I'm not going to go with something spur of the moment. And I am racking my brain for a good design that brings all my love for broadway together in one design. Thank you all for your ideas and advice. By all means keep it coming. I'll let you know what I decide!
