Telecharge Question

Hi, this is a bit random, but I wanted to see if any of you have had similar experiences or could explain why this might happen.

I'm visiting NYC next month (from Massachusetts) and wanted to buy $27 tickets for "Twelfth Night" and "Richard III." The friend I'm visiting and I were simultaneously looking up the seat availability so we could select the pairs we wanted. For both plays I was shown about 40-50 available Balcony seats for $27, whereas my friend, looking at the seating chart for the EXACT SAME PERFORMANCES at the EXACT SAME TIME as I was looking, was shown only two or three scattered balcony seats. We each reloaded the pages several times, and the same thing happened: for the same performances, I was given a lot of seating options, while he was given next to none.

How and why would this happen? Is it that Telecharge somehow tracks IP addresses and tries to upsell to New Yorkers? That's the only explanation I can think of, but it doesn't make practical sense. Anyone have any answers?

It's possible that one of you chose to select your seats from the seating chart (allowing you to see the available seats) and the other did not select that option enabling Telecharge to make the seating decision, so the same seating chart is generated but only seats indicated were the ones chosen by Telecharge. In the second scenario, all of the other seats in the section would have been "greyed" out.

The new telecharge web page sucks. If one you lives in New York, go to the box office. Or just wait till you get there. You'll save a fortune in fees.

the new Telecharge website was created by the same company that created the ACA website

LuminousBeing, frogs_fan85 is right, if you do not check off that you want to choose the seat yourself then only a couple of seats option show up, supposedly best available. You probably checked off chose your own seat, your friend did not.
