Incredibly good show, pity it's done with a keyboard instead of an orchestra. Its sound hasn't aged well.
It had an incredible run, but IMHO maybe it's time to let it go, although, with the worldwide financial crisis and the announced austerity measures the subject-matter becomes relevant again, unfortunately.
Don't forget this is Mr Kenwright and this is his baby, its the show that put him on the serious map. The takings from the UK tour of 'Blood Brthers' and 'Joseph' alone help him keep this in the West End while also paying for the hiccups he endures with shows like ' Cant Smile Without You' etc.
Lyn Paul is a great performer and she is amazing in this show (fab in 'Taboo') but I just wish she was offered other things.
What always impressed me is that you can take all the songs away and you still have a great story, a great play. The songs just add another dimenson. It works at so many levels.
Its right that such a great British musical remains at the heart of London's West End.
