does anyone know what WICKED will be performing at the Macys Parade?
Rumor has it the cast will be performing "One Short Day" on the NBC telecast. While not the best song in the show, it at least will feature the entire ensemble, and is easy perform in Herald Square as there are no major special effects to worry about.
Wicked will perform "One Short Day" at about 9:15.

So Far Wicked was great! Makes me want to see it even more
And I likeed LSHOH
Chicago was okay on CBS
Never Gonna Dance was cute but bad lyp synching.
Where's Kristin's yellow dress?!? And where are the green glasses?!?!
I couldn't stop laughing at the Ribbon Dancer! Did Cilento play a part in this?

Is the cast from TAKE ME OUT going to perform the "shower scene" in the parade today?
i loved the bfo number. i haven't seen the show, but i just have a huge soft spot for a show confident enough to put a number on national televison that doesn't feature its "star." instead if you look quick you can catch him in the background, taking a bow about three people off center. i don't care if he wanted to rest his voice or whatever the reason was, that was cool to put the kid center stage on thanksgiving, but just classy to see hugh in the background.
I thought LSOH came off the best, though WICKED worked fine, the final moments highlighting the girls' friendship v. sweet. Hunter and Kerry did the best lyping. The OZ clip suggests a different show, but despite no Hugh, the number at least seemed very b'way.
The event today for many is the incomparable Harvey. A class act. (Read the Times piece on Macy's cold feet.) Can't wait to see him red and fur-trimmed, flaming and float-ing.

Papalovesmambo,
OZ is a HIGHLY Entertaining show. Try to catch it if you can!
"resting his voice" wouldn't really be an issue here, as they are all lipsynching anyway. ![]()
Love,
Horsey
I thought I saw Hugh in the background right at the end, but I wasn't sure. I'm taping the whole parade, so I'm going to check it later to be sure. I agree, it's a great number, and Mitchell Federan is amazing. My heart jumped into my throat the first time I saw him do that flip off the piano.
I thought Kristen Chenoweth and Hunter Foster had the worst lip synching. Maybe I was jaded by the dancing in NEVR GONNA DANCE but I didn't realize they weren't singing live until the WICKED number. The little boy from OZ was great! I thought NGD looks like a promising show, but I didn't get how the Ginger Rogers character just appeared like that. Oh well...nice parade! Happy Thanksgiving!
hands down, WICKED was the best... i thought they were wonderful (plus, it sounded as if idina & Kris sang with their pre-recorded stuff)... LSOH was such a HS number.

Just my opinions but...
-Wicked-One Short Day is quite possibly the worst song ever written for a Broadway musical. It sounds like it should be in a Disney Theme Park show. What a horrible choice for a song to promote the show. And yet the staging is wonderful. "...you'll have a lifetime of fun"- yuck, yuck, yuck
-Never Gonna Dance- just as I expected. Jerry Mitchell's choreography can't even compare to the original choreography in the wonderful Astaire and Rodger's movies. His choreography (like most of his other shows) is trite, unstylized and predictable. And his formations are SO generic (the V formation). And besides his choreography- the arrangements to the song were horrible. Now I know to skip this show.
-Boy from Oz- It looked alright. The boy was quite something.
-Little Shop- By far the best performance. I don't care much for Kerry Butler in the role but she did fine today. If I knew nothing about Broadway and was basing my decision on what to see on the performances today I would definetely be buying tickets to LSOH right now.
Side Note: The Tracy Morgan show looks hysterical!

Never Gonna Dance and Wicked were the highlights for me. The lip-synching was bad in both, In my opinion, but I had never seen either of those numbers before, and they blew me away. Never Gonna Dance has nice choreography, I think. One of the only feel-good shows this season. I love this time period and style of dance, so the show looks pretty good! Wicked was also great. The music isn't all that bad. At least not as horrible as the critics say. I can't wait to see Kristin and Idina~! Updated On: 11/27/03 at 10:27 AM
Well, I missed it because my stupid mother decided to change the channel at 2am, meanwhile I had set up the tape from the night before. ![]()
If anyone taped the parade and is willing to make me a copy I would really appreciate it. :) Please PM me.

Just saw the drum major & did it look to you like it did to me as to what his gyrations were imitating ? Very nice - in front of children yet

I thought all of the performances were very good. I'm glad someone else saw Hugh in the background so I can go tell my family that I was right! :) I like BFO the best I think, as far as quality-the little boy is great! LSOH was also good. The lip synching stuff, though a necessity, drives me cray!

Talk about turkeys on Broadway! The entire parade as broadcast continues to get worse each year.
There were no cameras along the parade route except for Roker at the start of the parade with the promotions for NBC shows.
Everything in front of Macy's. Canned music. Nearly every band who baked saled, car washed, baby sat, and canvassed for funds to march in the parade were relegated to less than two minutes on camera as they introduce the commercial breaks. How would you feel if you were looking for your son/daughter in the "Macy's Thankgiving Day Parade"?
The only reason to view on TV is that 80% of the "celebs" (and most are wannabes or been theres) and all of the musical exceperts appear only in front of the Herald Square NBC cameras.
The parade in person (at the corner of my block) is a totally different experience than what one sees broadcast. Many a year I've seen it live then made it home in time to see it arrive at Herald Square. What makes the parade fun, exciting and a true joy is seeing and hearing the pleasure it brings children of all ages standing/sitting, crouching at curbside along the route. That's the parade.
Macy's should be ashamed for the way promotion has taken over the parade broadcast. Something that started as a gift to the children of NYC has evolved into a gift for media promoters and NBC.
Thank goodness there are family and friends for us to revel in once the 3 hours commercial is over.
Have a lovely holiday today.
Bulldog.

You do have a point there, BB. The parade isn't what I remember when I was growing up.
I think I asked this before but does anyone remember the year the Santa got off the float at Macys and his pants fell down?
