ThanksGiving Parade Performances

Posted: 11/28/03 at 5:07pmI enjoyed Little Shop...Hunter's lip synching was way off, as others have said. I wasn't that impressed by Wicked. I thought NBC's performances were better than CBS's this year. CBS' were pretty dull, especially Chicago and Mamma Mia!

Posted: 11/28/03 at 5:14pmI wholeheartedly agree. Mamma Mia was incredibly dull, as was Chicago, although I always love watching Brent Barrett. That song is getting terribly old. I was impressed by the Wicked segment. I know its a very simple song, and not the most creative, but it's cute, and I liked it. The costumes were nice. And the choreography wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Not one of the shows represented on the Macy's program stirred any reason for me to buy a ticket to any of them.
LSOH - Both leads awful
WICKED - Dull dull song directed to be screamed
OZ - Never share a stage with a kid
DANCE - They're not Fred & Ginger
Bring on the high school bands for some freshness & sprit. Those elements certainly not represented by the "musicals" on B'way.

Posted: 11/28/03 at 7:56pmThe lip synching was, in a word, appalling. Not just the Broadway shows but all of the singers. Just dreadful.

Posted: 11/28/03 at 9:58pmI thought Mitchel was great in TBFO. Very energetic.

Posted: 11/28/03 at 10:01pmThat little boy from "Oz" was fantastic. Even my mother, who's a lot less a theatre enthusiast as I, said how great and energetic that "little guy" was. Even though he was lip synching, he just exumed energy. I loved the cart wheel type move off of the piano. But best of all was getting to see my beloved Heather Laws in the ensemble that was on during that number. She was fabulous Sally Bowles.

Posted: 11/29/03 at 12:41pmWas I the only one who thought NEVER GONNA DANCE looked awful? I liked Mitchell's choreography but the rest of it confirmed all the terrible things I've heard about the show. The orchestration was awful. Racey was a thrilling dancer but his singing and acting left me cold. When a lead with a "triple threat" role only seems to be outstanding in one area, I'm not real inclined to see the show.

I was disappointed too. No charisma by either of the two leads. The choreorgraphy did nothing to recall Astaire's work in the least.

Posted: 11/29/03 at 1:51pmI was completely impressed by Never Gonna Dance. I thought the choreogrpahy was great, the costumes were beautiful, and the leads were fine. They had great chemistry. Nancy is a beautiful dancer and she had great chemistry with Noah Racey, who's voice was just fine.

Well Billy, if we happened to go to a performance of DANCE together we'd have lots to discuss over dinner after!
Cheers.

Posted: 11/29/03 at 3:17pmAnything dealing with Mitchell's choreography and the word great should not be in the same sentence. The choreography was boring like everything else he does. I'm sure this show would put me to sleep in a second. And Noah Racey- zzzzzzzzzzzz

NBC's coverage of the parade sucked!! And that's putting it nicely.
DofB5, I remember the year that Santa's pants fell down. I think it was the late 1970's.
