This may be a dumb question, but will the strike affect the Broadway performances at The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade if it continues?

Would I rather be feared or loved? Um, easy. Both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me.- Michael Scott, The Office

Not dumb at all. I don't know if the striking workers are involved in the parade performances or if they only work in the theatres.

I just hope the strike is over long before then!

I wouldn't think so, unless the show was planning on using a set piece for the performance that would require crew. If so, they would probably work around that.

Broadway Shows I've Seen: Hairspray, Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors (2003), The Wedding Singer, Spamalot, Riverdance, Rent, Beauty and the Beast, Spring Awakening, Wicked, Legally Blonde, Phantom of the Opera, Sweet Charity (revival), Drowsy Chaperone, The Lion King, Dreamgirls(2010 Tour).

If still on strike, the Parade would be affected. Stagehands
have to handle the props, the costumes, etc for any performance using show elements outside of the theatre.

It won't affect Mary Poppins.

So if this strike is still on, the only show scheduled to perform that wouldnt be able to would be Leaglly Blonde (oh no, such a loss!)

Do you think the producers of the Parade would replace them with another show? (Spelling Bee would be the only other Bway option I guess) or would an already announced show get to perform 2 numbers?

Anyone involved with the telecast? Anyone know?

No, the head of the Macy's Parade has already said that ALL shows scheduled to perform at the Parade will perform, strike or no strike. The stagehands will have nothing to do with it. As for how they're going to actually accomplish that, I have no clue.

Legally Blonde is slated to perform "What You Want" and all that requires is a few banners and the thing she jumps through, which they don't really need. I am sure they will still perform, although it will be odd for them if that's the only performance of it they will have done in twow eeks.
