OK so everyone in my drama and vocal classes watched the Tonys (including the teacher, same guy) but all people talked about was Hugh Jackman, Avenue Q and P. Diddy. When I brought up the performances and Idina's win everyone agreed that they were flat but when referring to Idina they called her "That Woman"- including the teacher. No one could remember her name for the life of them. They pretty much forgot that she won anyways they were focused on the "singing muppets" and Hugh Jackman's pants.
You don't want me to tell you how many people aside from these classes referred to her as "that woman" when we were discussing the show last night, not one other person besides me knew her name.........awwwwww

I'm sure if they're calling Menzel, "that woman", they don't even know that Rose won. After that dreadful opening number, I'm sure there were channels changing all over the place.

"That Woman" happens to be a Tony winner and a great actress. Though the ratings were low, I'm sure a lot of theatre people know who she is!!
It's really scary though-- everyone in my class (who are the most un-Broadway knowing peopl ever) knew who Idina was! (maybe it's because I talk about her a lot as my favorite performer)-- but I was kind of happy about that.

oh she is definitly rising...
reading newsday today, they mentioned a fashion awards thing in the city yesterday "sarah jessica parker attended...along with other celebs Beyonce Knowles, Idina Menzel, and Susan Saradon who also attended"
shes getting more recognition, and i expect she will one day be a known name.

Posted: 6/8/04 at 7:58pmSimilar thing at school.... everyone was whining that Wicked lost to "stupid puppets" and that Cheno lost. They couldn't even find it in their hearts to be happy for Idina, even though they just love Wicked so much because it's the best show ever.
