That's so sad.
I almost cried a couple of weeks ago when I saw the mirrors back visible in the breezeway. Well, once I got over my shock. I don't remember ever seeing it not covered and didn't know it was a big old mirror wall. (I only moved here 2 years ago.)

thanks for sharing... i was thumbing through your other pics on flickr.... you're a great photographer!
thanks! :) its just a hobby but it would be my dream job for sure...
That is so sad. Thanks so much for the pictures, though.
Damn, that's almost sadder than the show closing...
That's really sad.

I thought it was sad walking past the Marquis the other day with that Bob Saget sign still up......but with the closing notices taped to the doors. It was like this testament to a stunt casting that didnt work. Don't get me wrong--its always sad when a long-runner closes-wish I had a chance to see it.
Its so sad to see that. Its odd to walk into the marquis breezeway and see mirrors there. Not only has the Drowsy ad been plastered up there, but before that there was a wonderful mural of classic broadway performances. I hope that mural goes back up!
I wish I could afford to buy the Drowsy marquee. It would make a fun headboard! lol

Whats more annoying is the scaffolding that's gone up on the hotel next to the Majestic Theater so now the great view of Phantom's signage from 8th Av is ruined.

I wonder when Cry Baby will go up.
I wonder what the art will be for baby.
speaking of Cry-Baby... i had never seen the original waters film, and it was playing "on demand" today so i watched it... um... what an, uh, interesting, uh, film... lol!
i'm very curious to see what the stage show will be like... Hairspray was as much a wacky waters film as any other, but it was his most "commercial" film so it was easier to adapt into a fun musical i think... Cry-Baby was just weird!

Bye Drowsy! (again)
Aw, I remember when they first put that neon sign up last November...sad to see it go.
It would make a great mural, if I could light it up for the drive way!
It is sad to see the Marquis dark right now but I understand their reasoning. I can't wait to see it again though on the West Coast finally, once again!
I read they are pushing promos for the tour to go to Denver in October. It isn't a firm date yet but they are anticipating it coming out there around that time so good news for Denver Fans. Still nothing for Nevada or Arizona?
I just read they had a sold out show in Florida, it should be selling well there. And a good informative interview quoting Lisa Lambert and Bob Martin.
https://www.accessatlanta.com/arts/content/printedition/2008/01/20/drowsy0120.html
Martin says he's currently working on two new projects. And though he is not at liberty to disclose too many details, one of the shows is about the "burlesque period of theater."
Lambert, for her part, says she can't imagine writing a piece alone. "I'll always be collaborative. I just need it. I just need the stimulation. Everything I do needs assistance. ... I'm not a workaholic."
I can't wait to see what they have in store. They have Casey Nicolaw on board too so let's hope, if it really takes off, we will see this great group rousing up a crowd once again for the Marquis once again!
I just had to add this comment from Sarasota, Florida, for the sake of those who think "Drowsy" has a limited self life...

The show has a witty and infectious spirit that will sweep you away for 90 minutes or so. And it is easy to imagine that we will be enjoying this one for years to come at any number of local playhouses.

My friend was in the city this week and saw outside of the Marque the cushions from show off in the trash...so sad...I have the picture but don't know how to post it
I read on Wikipedia that the day after a show closes the set is burned and the books for the show get locked up in a trunk or something....
obviously this isn't true....
but what happens to the set? and the costumes? do the lighting instruments get re-used somwhere? or the sound stuff? or do they just... get thrown out? I mean... they're bought for the production, but... are they just wasted?
