I went to New York last in April 2006 (I left the second) so as much as I wanted to see Drowsy, I couldn't. But I am seeing the tour in April.
well the lighting is most likely the theatres house lighting, so thats most likely all re-used by the theatre.
I actually saw be taken down live on EarthCam.com. I watched the truck take it away.
but what happens to the set? and the costumes? do the lighting instruments get re-used somwhere? or the sound stuff? or do they just... get thrown out? I mean... they're bought for the production, but... are they just wasted?
All of the lighting and sound equipment used in a Broadway theatre is rented from a supply house specifically for that production. Once a show loads out there is no lighting or sound equipment left in the theatre. The costumes are usually put into storage or sold to rental houses. Some of the scenery is sold to rental houses and some is destroyed (which is cheaper than storing it somewhere).

this is kind of random but does anyone know if there is a bootleg of closing night? I would love to get it! also, i think some of the costumes and such get sold from the broadway cares events.
So what's going to happen or has happened to that gigantic ad for Drowsy in the breezeway behind the Marquis?
It's gone. It's a giant mirror wall now. I guess it was just like giant stickers or something.
Prior to the Drowsy sign it was a montage of Broadway related photos. I specifically remember an image from the original A Chorus Line.
Awww- that is sad. Drowsy is such a special show. I'll be seeing it on tour, and I'm happy to say I saw the OBC. Bob Martin is so special. I hope one day that he does something else for the stage. He has a great sense of humor and clearly a reverence for the theatre.
Geez, Broadway World has kinda been sad lately...
I wanted to see drowsy so bad . I got a bootleg and when i saw the bootleg i was so hyped to see the show. That day wad December 30th 2007
