yeah, he left the tour to do bare at ATA.
i'm still kicking myself for not saying hi to him. he popped his head out of stage door to see if anyone had asked for him. the security guy said no, and he loudly exclaimed how nobody loves him as he disappeared back into the building.

broadwayguy2 enjoys current ensemble member ryan-micahel shaw.
i couldn't see anyone too well from the Standing Room area. and the old german couple next to me wouldn't stop yammering until I shushed them right before Money Money Money. they argued for a bit, then left during Chiquitita.

Ryan is the adorable little blonde.
Does anyone else have opions on the singing in MAMMA MIA! now or ever?
Well I haven't seen Carolee yet but I trust my friends...I hope to see her eventually.
Yes, Dee Hoty's voice was more tradional.. But Louise Pitre definitely had that rocky-belty kind of voice you're talking about, so I don't know what you're talking about... As a huge ABBA fan, I also don't agree that the singers have to sound like them when they sing- it's not a concert, after all, it's a Broadway show (yeah, yeah, crack jokes if you want).
Most of all I just want the music to sound good and not as "broadway" I said they do not have to be cpoies of ABBA but closer.

Was this a serious post? What theatre fan does not know Carolee Carmello?
Normal people do NOT know who she is. She is not maninstream. It's the theatre people who are different. And I am not a "real" theatre person. I could only put what I remember from the playbill and I did not keep it.
Research darling, research.
Now change the title of your thread. Carolee does not deserve to have a name similar to an ice cream flavor.
Is it so hard to look at your playbill for someone's correct name before you post? It's more than possible that she or someone she knows reads these boards. Can you at least have the decency to fix the name in the title?
Oh you didn't keep your playbill. So go to Playbill.com or check around here for the correct name. My goodness.
Ah! I'm sorry! I did not save the Playbill! What do you want me to fix? I just want to know how many people like the singing in MAMMA MIA!
We were very clear on what we wanted you to fix. Read the thread. Read SOMETHING.
ok let's stop arguing and agree we're all at fault. shame on everyone picking on bronxbound for being mean. shame on bronxbound for failing to recognize the force of nature that is Carolee. shame on Carolee for hogging all the talent. shame on Mamma Mia for not being a better show. shame on me for buying out the "Handsome Store"

i feel really bad about it

huh? I raved about . . . "Carolee" I only said she had too much vibrato like everyone else.
Ok I think I fixed the title.
oh I don't mind what your opinion of her performance is. if you liked her, great, if you disliked certain things, that's cool too. what I'm having more trouble understanding is someone not being familiar with her wonderful performances in other shows. she's a luminary. no hard feelings, I just want the fighting to stop, or at least to build into something explosive.

ok ok.
Any other htought about MAMMA MIA!?

My mom came to visit me in the city the other day and dragged me to see Mamma Mia... I only say dragged because it wasn't a show I was ever interested in seeing, but I feel lucky to catch it this time because I too totally enjoyed the trio of ladies.
Carolee has one of the most powerful vibratos in the biz, but it works for her, and I found her to be perfect. I have nothing to compare her to but I'm not interested in doing so. I thought her acting was top notch, and the bottom line is Mamma Mia will be cast with Musical Theatre folk, so to expect or want pop voices isn't gonna happen. This show was created to be a piece of theatre so if fans of ABBA music don't like the voices on the stage, I would suggest looking for an ABBA tribute concert somewhere where they strive to get that same sound of 2 men and 2 women doing all the songs.
Anyhoo, I saw Judy McLane as Evita when I was 15 at Paper Mill Playhouse and remember being very moved by her then, and am happy to see her in something of note. Liz McCartney was a hoot, and all in all, they made it worthwhile for me.
I was surprised how well the songs fit into a plot, but I have to say it was really cheezy the way some of the songs were performed in terms of choreography, costumes, (the scuba dream sequence.....?????) and I'm sad to report the only time I minded Sky and Sophie onstage was when the ensemble boys were there too, because then I had some eye candy to look at!
Sky seemed (and it's just my opinion) stiff because maybe, just maybe he doesn't like girls in real life and he was trying to butch it up. (Say what you will, ONLY an opinion). But I liked his voice and he clearly has talent. Sophie... whew... Didn't think she belonged on a Broadway stage. Sorry.
And it was interesting to me how many of the ensemble couldn't dance (the females). I watched them specifically and they're out there just kinda splashing in puddles. They should rehearse a bit more.
And my last comment, it was odd because I think it's the first Broadway show I've seen where no one in the cast wore a wig. That was interesting to me.
That's all!
DT.
Why is her glorious name STILL greviously misspelled in the title???
I didn't think Sophie could get much worse than the one who attempted to play her role in Mamma Mia's recent run in Chicago.
