"Andrew Lloyd Weber's sweeping score is still here (with a few new unmemorable tunes, though all singers are superb)."

New tunes? What are they talking about?

I guess the tunes were so unmemorable they didn't remember them from the original production!

The theater Benedum (originally was the RKO Stanley) is absolutely gorgeous.

Except for the unsightly brown wooden "acoustic arch" that was added during renovations in the 1980s. It awkwardly sticks out of the original proscenium, obscuring it from view on the sides. In person it's dark, dreary, and looks so out of place compared to the rest of the auditorium.

Ugh

Never saw that view before. At least they did not bastardize it like they did with Powell Hall previously the Loew's Penn

I edited to add one more photo from before a performance... it really shows how dark the arch is compared to the auditorium. Fortunately, the original proscenium is still intact and not destroyed.
