I was able to catch this one when it tried out in Skokie, IL in late '98.
Besides bringing well deserved stardom to a certain someone, I remember it as being the result of otherwise uneven casting and misdirection.
Any other thoughts? Who knows, maybe I was being far too myopic then...

I saw this on Broadway and paid $20 for a student ticket at the time. I had no expectations as I didn't know the show at all...all I remember is having a big smile on my face the entire time. I really enjoyed it, and thought it was a great production. I was surprised when it closed so soon. Who knows what my experience would have been like if I were older when I saw it.

I never knew it tried out in Skokie. Have always enjoyed the RCR though maybe not as much as the OCR.
Once could argue that Roger Bart never really rose to as much fame as Kristin.

Anthony Rapp played Charlie Brown (his followup to Rent) and B.D. Wong (his followup to M. Butterfly) played Linus. That cast did pretty well for themselves.
