For those who haven’t seen the show (like myself) and want to read up on it, and for those who have seen the show and want to go back and look at it from a different angle, I stumbled across this interesting Study Guide. Don’t know if it’s been linked before, so here you go...

Well, this has been fun and informative reading. Glad I found this little study guide. Getting very nervous and excited. Looking forward to seeing this on Wednesday!

Thanks for the link...why are you getting nervous? Relax, you're going to gave the time of your life.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

They should hand this out to all the sociopaths who go to see this and thinks it's boring and can't work out what it's about.

Well, if they're too lazy to think DURING the show, they certainly aren't going to do so later!

Many shows create these.

As I was walking out when I saw it there was a man in his late 40's walking out behind me and he said to his wife 'yeah it was ok but what was it about. Usually when I go back to my class after I see a show I can tell the students what the show was about, but this had no story and nothing happened'.

It took every inch of strength I had not to turn around and say 'you shouldn't be allowed to teach children'.

First time flying in five years, first time back in Manhattan since 2002, nervous about things I can’t control like the weather and the making it to the airport in time to catch the flight (two hour drive and getting there at 6am), leaving my cat for two days and letting the neighbor have keys to my apartment, nervous about all sorts of little things. Just a bit of a nervous wreck since this is the first Broadway shows I’m seeing. I know it’ll all be OK, just need to chill.

Once the plane lands at Newark and I’m off the train exiting Penn Station I’ll breath a little easier. Been listening to the OBCR of “The Band’s Visit” for a couple of months and have my favorite tracks. Waiting to see how it plays out on the stage will be interesting to finally mate the two together.

A lot of people have agitated thoughts as they're about to leave for a trip. I certainly do. And then, as Impossible 2 wisely pointed out, things are almost always fine. You have my permission :) not to dwell on any thoughts you don't like. I hope you have a fun trip and really enjoy the show.

Thanks! After I get out of seeing “The Band’s Visit” it’s hotel check-in time, a quick clean-up, then some more Broadway sightseeing until it’s time to show up at the Shubert Theater to see “Hello, Dolly!”. First time I’ve ever done a musical double-header.

It’ll be a long, busy, wonderful day!

Wow - what a great combination! A classic favorite and a brand new hit (I loved the Band's Visit)! One other thing: I used to worry until the last minute about someone in the cast being out, and then I would feel very bad if there was an understudy in a major role. Then I read a wonderful post about what a rare privilege it is to see an alternative take on role that the general public will never see. And I've found it to be true. More often than not, I end up giving the understudy a standing ovation. Have a great trip!

Out of all of the performances I’ve attended, the only “alternate” I’ve seen was Bronson Norris Murphy instead of Gardar Thor Cortes in “Love Never Dies”. It still turned out fine.

One thing I had to do, and not that he’s the “alternate”, was to download pictures of Dariush Kashani as Tewfiq. All of the information and pictures I had seen, even on the show’s website, used images of Tony Shaloub except in the cast bio page. I did find a couple of Dariush in uniform, so that keeps me from being disappointed when Tony doesn’t step out onto the stage.
