Mona doesn't dance at all. Hell, Ann Margret barely even walked in the role, she mostly sat on stage in the prop wheelchair. I just like Burke's earthy sophistication, I think that would serve the role well.
If not Reba or Beverly, then I would suggest Sally Mayes as Mona.
Dee Hoty can do it! She has the experience as Miss Mona and the Dr. Dolittle tour closed too!
Anyone can do it. (If they're in NY). Remember it's only for 1 night. NOt a full scaled revival. I'm not sure where Megan Mulloly is shooting her talk show though. Probably LA

Harvey Fierstein in drag?
Haha
They need to get the girl who played her when I was in it.
Her name is Cannady. And she was PHENOMINAL.
Voice of a southern belle-angel.
And an attitude the size of Texas, itself!!
But, I mean, she's not a name. So of course they would never, lol.
Oh, well. It's fun to dream, anyway.

Sharon Wilkins would be a great Jewel. I saw her do it in summer stock about 10 years ago. She was amazing! And I got to take shots with her in the kitchen of the actor dorms. :)
All of the choices for actresses to play Jewel in this thread are great, but I think Hattie Winston would be pretty good, too.
Is it hard to get tickets too?? How much are tickets?
They are not on sale yet. The prices usually go $50 $75 all the up to $500, $1000 and $2500. The top two prices get you into the after party. The $50 ones are in the back of the theater. But it's not in as big a theater as it usually is.

Carollee has the earthiness and the sophistication/authority for the role. She can also break your heart with a ballad. Maybe a hair on the young side but I think she'd be great.
Beverly D' gets my vote also!
Some Hollywood Glam and Broadway Power.
She was great in ROCKABYE HAMLET!
and Brooks Ashcanwhatskee for Melvin.
(what's his name?)
