he Tony-nominated revival of Gore Vidal's political drama The Best Man has been extended for a second time at Broadway’s Schoenfeld Theatre. Starring two-time Tony winner James Earl Jones, Tony winner John Larroquette, Eric McCormack and five-time Tony winner Angela Lansbury, The Best Man was originally scheduled to play a limited engagement through July 8. Directed by Michael Wilson, the production will now run through September 9.
The Best Man is the story of two political candidates, Secretary William Russell (Larroquette) and Senator Joseph Cantwell (McCormack) who are both hoping to earn their party’s nomination for president. When Cantwell smears Russell’s reputation at the Philadelphia national convention, Russell must decide whether to retaliate or fight fair—even if it could mean losing the race.
In addition to Larroquette, McCormack, Jones and Lansbury, The Best Man stars Candice Bergen, Tony nominee Kerry Butler, Michael McKean and Tony winner Jefferson Mays. The production also features Donna Hanover, Curtis Billing, Corey Brill, Tony Carlin, Sherman Howard, Bill Kux, James Lecesne, Dakin Matthews, Angelica Page, Fred Parker, Jr. and Amy Tribbey.
The Best Man creative team includes scenic designer Derek McLane, lighting designer Kenneth Posner, music and sound designer John Gromada and costume designer Ann Roth.

Good for them. Really enjoyed this show. Are all of the actors extending too?

Really? I wonder who they'd get to replace him.
Any news on who else is leaving or staying with the show till it's end or who could replace Eric McCormack?
As much as I enjoy seeing Angela Lansbury performing live on stage I really wish she would have taking at least one film or TV role before going on that Australian tour with James Earl Jones. Does she really want Mr. Popper's Penguins to be her last film? Surely someone who made her film debut in Gaslight deserves better closing chapter than that.
Does anyone know when any cast changes would be? I'm seeing the show July 20th and I am curious who I I wil be seeing.
probably not Michael McKean.
Candice Bergen is also living in July.
God, I hope Candy is still living in July.
