The Big Voice: God or Merman? 12/08/06 Review!

I am terrible at writing reviews but what I can say is that this show is a MUST SEE for anyone! The score, acting, set, and theatre are all fantastic! Jim Brochu keeps us laughing so hard we cry and Steve Schalchlin's music and lyrics are just brilliant and their acting is just wonderful! I am speechless at how great this show was and I WILL be going back very very soon! Every theatre lover will love this show! I am still in shock at how great this was!

PLEASE don't miss this!

I wish I had felt that way. Overall, I found it distinctly disappointing after having read some favorable reviews. But it did seem that there were people who liked it a great deal the night I was there.

I also wish that it wasn't amplified, but it's possible that the space has poor acoustics.

I loved the show in LA--even if the creators and people behind the show got kind of bitchy about other very good shows in town on their websites and in the papers.

Was I bitchy about some other shows?? Really?? I didn't mean to be. Usually, if I don't like something, I just keep my big mouth shut. I totally apologize if I offended. Seriously.

There were some digs--a woman who has a web blog who worked on the show really ripped Judy's Scary Little Christmas to shreds then there were some comments at an awards show that probably wouldn't have raised my eyebrows except for the previous comments.

I know who you're talking about. She didn't really work on our show, but she is a big supporter. So, I can accept your criticism. But I did not slam any show on MY website. I just can't do it. I know how hard it is to get a show up and running. Again, I am sorry if I offended.

I saw THE BIG VOICE last night and was knocked out! I thought it was a remarkable show, full of hearty laughs and no small amount of tender, touching moments as well. Congratulations to Steve and Jim on a wonderful play.
