The Color Fantasia

I'm nervous.

I was a MAJOR fan of Fantasia in American Idol and loved her to death.

Yet, for some reason, I have reservations about her doing The Color Purple. I already have tix (which i had b4 i knew she was joining the cast) and am REALLLY hoping her performance is amazing as I've heard the other lead Purple actresses have been.

SO.... anybody heard her do anything from the show? Anyone know how she'll do in the role?

I can see her succeeding flawlessy and I can see her screwing it up majorly. Eeka.

What do you think???

She did both idol and oprah where she performed the song "I'm Here" two completely different arrangements and back to back (seperate days). Based on the power and energy in those performances, I think she'll be just fine. In musicals a lot of acting is in song and she's got the song portion down, and I'm sure she'll nail everything by opening night.

I think she can play herself just fine!!!!! She will rock in the show!!!!!

Regarding Life is Not a Fairytale, in reading about how it came to be, it is clear that fantasia didn't do that in order to get acting awards and accolades for acting. She said she did it to help people who are struggling. She played herself, a person who wasn't confident in anything and yet still broke out and won the biggest talent show in the world. I guess she actually did do a good job portraying herself, she wasn't an actress at that time and was casted along side people who weren't her family members so even though she was casted as herself she still had to act like Viola was her mother, Kadeem was her father, Loretta was her Grandmother, like the little baby was her actual daughter, etc. (she had to even act like she was sixteen and pregnant again). In her life, she was seen as not good at anything and a lot of people described her in that movie as just that. So, she was a success at playing her earlier self. Now whether you liked her story or not is your problem and you shouldn't have tuned in to the life story of a person you already dislike, no way is their life story going to do anything but make you sick.

Now regarding the "color purple" Oprah contacted fantasia and asked her to do this role. She wasn't seeking broadway, they simply thought she was perfect for cecile but I think the training that fantasia is going to get is going to be excellent for her in the long run. That's why I had to LOL when someone said a previous idol opened the door for fantasia to do broadway, unless Oprah was on idol, that isn't true.
