Posted: 2/2/05 at 6:08pmJudging by what I saw at the premier in Atlanta in the fall, it's got a LOOOOOONG way to go before they bring it in...or, on the flip side, I hope they dont bring it in without doing some MAJOR work.

With the story, I'm sure they can make it into an affective musical. And with the talent they've got in the cast, they've certainly got the performers to pull it off. It's just a matter of whether or not the director and writers can pull together a meaningful and provoking show. I really hope they do. It's an incredible piece of literature, and deserves an incredible stage adaptation.
How I wish I could see LaChanze in Dessa Rose... I'm crying...

Posted: 2/2/05 at 11:04pmperhaps i was in the minority about the production in Atlanta. i thought there were moments that were breathtaking, but just as many that were predictable and out of place....it was a first rate production of a very messy musical.
