I got a copy a few weeks ago, it's a beautiful book. Very much like Wicked's The Grimmerie (so yes, libretto). From what I understood, it was supposed to be in the theatre this past week and in bookstores a couple of weeks later. (Or the other way around.)

I've been checking a few sites on the Internet? Have they pushed the release date to October?

It's official, folks. I was at the Barnes and Noble in Hingham. The Color Purple: A Memory Book will be released on October 10th. God willing, they didn't push back the release date simply to remove the libretto.

Grimmerie doesn't have the libretto? I thought it did.

Well, in this book, Chapter Five is "The Libretto". Looks like the full libretto to me, or at least a lot of it.

The Grimmerie has large portions of the libretto, but not the entire thing.

According to Amazon, the release date has been moved to November 28, 2006.

According to Amazon, it's released now.

I was in Theatre Circle tonight and saw it. I was shocked, I had no idea they had a book out.

It's a beautiful book with tons of great pictures AND the full libretto. It's $40, but amazon has it for $26.40. It is a lot like the grimmerie. I don't have either, but they are both the same size, the same price, and the same squishy cover.

I just saw it at B. Dalton's at South Shore Plaza. It's missing a few lines of dialogue actually but it's basically the entire libretto. I'm so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
