The Cradle Will Rock - recordings

I'm doing research for a history paper on the Federal Theatre Project, and I've been reading a lot about The Cradle Will Rock. now, I really want a recording. Does anyone here have any opinions on which is best?

Audra McDonald's "Joe Worker" from the film soundtrack is pretty astounding, but otherwise I'd recommend the 1985 recording.

I've actually heard that the 1990 LA cast is the best.
