however I can think of one positive...maybe now, if this is true, a cast recording will be produced.

Is there a NY Post link? It says NY Post is reporting...
I'd see it. I doubt to hell that it's true, but I'd see it.

it is not a terribly demanding part and Trump in it would be lots of fun and perhaps improve the La Cage box office.
There is family history here, of course. When Trump was married to or engaged to Marla Maples she joined the cast of THE WILL ROGERS FOLLIES as "Ziegfeld's favorite," right?
Also, this morning Regis Philbin was goin on and on about his love of La Cage, he loved the original and loves the revival. Philbin and Trump apparently have a close friendship. Perhaps the Trump "cameo" appearance in La Cage will really happen:)

Posted: 3/2/05 at 1:59pmYou know, as much as I really hate to admit this! This really could work for everyones bennifit! LA CAGEs Box Office is Healthy, but not near WICKED/HAIRSPRAY/LION KING range, this casting could propell it, keep it around for quite awhile, and MAYBE get us that cast recording! PLUS, its not that demanding of a role and one that the Trumpster could definitly handle!

This would be something you don't see everyday. A big, multi-millionarie performing on broadway. What will they think of next? Then again I could be wrong and in the words of Gene Wilder in Young Frankenstein "It...Could....WORK!"

Posted: 3/2/05 at 4:29pmI doubt that this would happen. Donald is a well-known workaholic and probably doesn't have time to do a show every night, plus matinees twice a week.
#16re: The Donald in 'La Cage'
Posted: 3/2/05 at 4:57pmI doubt it will happen as well, but if it did, I think it would be GREAT. No one can possibly be worse at that role than the man playing it now, so any change (in my opinion) is a step up.

Posted: 3/2/05 at 5:03pmYeah, Michael Mulheren seemed a little, how should I say?, uninterested when I saw it.
#18re: The Donald in 'La Cage'
Posted: 3/2/05 at 5:14pmThe whole cast seemed clueless and uninterested, that's why I strongly dislike this production. Who knows, it might just be the super talented Jerry Zaks at his best.....

I personally didn't like the role of the girl's father..I liked it better in the movie, The Birdcage...so maybe the Trump could pull it off, although after seeing his horrible acting skills on SNL he could 100% suck as well..
It's a 50/50 chance whether he'll be good or not...
He can sure as heck pay some good money for the world's best acting coach if needed!!

Posted: 3/2/05 at 5:35pmI don't care how bad he is, as long as he finances a cast recording!

My first thoughts were that this guy will do anything to get attention, but after some more thought, hey, maybe this "could work", as Gene Wilder would say.
What would really be fun would be to see the Donald without his wig, as the role of Edouard calls for a receeding hairline.
BTW, the LaCage website has a really "fabulous" new screen saver to download.

#23re: The Donald in 'La Cage'
Posted: 3/2/05 at 6:04pmI think it's perfect type casting. Edouard is a complete and total jerk with no sense of humor as is Donald.
