The Dream of the Burning Boy

I see the ad on the front page here and it looks interesting. Has anyone seen it?

The Dream of the Burning Boy

I was e-mailed a copy of the script but my computer popped up a big message stating that if I opened it, there would be permanent damage to my system.

I heeded the warning.

The Dream of the Burning Boy

I saw a performance of it this summer at the O'Neill center and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's a conventional story in some respects, but told with some very interesting and unusual details. The guy who is playing the lead - the teacher did it in O'Neill performance is excellent. I would recommend it.

The Dream of the Burning Boy

Thanks musicalman2. I think I will try to see it tomorrow. Wanted to see "Peter and the Starcatcher" but it is sold out. This was my second choice. I was going to do something on Broadway but tomorrow night is kind of a special night for me and I think something new and off-Broadway fits the bill.

Edit: Just ordered my ticket.

The Dream of the Burning Boy

I am a bit upset. On the way into the city I got a call that there was an extra ticket for Priscilla. Friends were going and begged me to join them. I caved and went. Am trying to change my ticket for Burning boy as I do want to see it.

The Dream of the Burning Boy

I saw BURNING BOY this afternoon and really liked it. Well-written and acted with great skill.

It's only 90 minutes long.

The Dream of the Burning Boy

I thought Reed Birney gave the best performance as the main character of the high school teacher. He was excellent as the husband in "A Small Fire" last year.

The Dream of the Burning Boy

Birney really is giving a splendid performance in this play.

I wasn't fully satisfied with the fellow playing the young guidance counselor. Throughout the play, I felt that he wasn't fully capturing the character. The role would be much funnier in more comedic hands. Yeah, he got laughs but that was because the part was funny. The actor wasn't.
