Hi everyone. I am thinking about going to see the Drowsey Chaperone. But I need your help.
First of all, what exactly is it about?
Second, how did you like it and how is the music?
Third, is it appropriate to see with my grandmother?
Please help. Thanks!

1. It's about a man (a Broadway fan) who loves a musical called The Drowsy Chaperone. He loves it so much that he shares it with us.
2. I LOVED it! It's very funny and the Man in the Chair reminds me of...me.
; one of the best. The music was cute.
3. It's definitely appropriate for your grandmother.
Hope that helped!

1) What Gav Said
2) I really thought I'd like it because I do love the music but it just didn't end up being my cup of tea. But, don't get me wrong- it wasn't bad!
3) Yes, it is appropriate to see it with your grandmother. I took my 86 year old grandmother and she enjoyed it.

Posted: 9/9/06 at 10:10pmI definitely recommend it. And you come out of the show singing the songs, which is always a good sign.

Posted: 9/9/06 at 10:33pmIt's nostalgic and has a wonderful score of effective pastiche dittes. Your Grandma will love the show. It's also quite modern and comments on the current theater of today and how a show is no longer "just plain fun." You and your grandma will both love it!

To answer your question CORRECTLY...
The intermission-less show is simply about a Broadway musical from the 1920's that comes alive in the apartment of a man ('The Man in the Chair') as he talks about the show to the audience while playing the Original Cast Recording to them. He interrupts moments with hilarious anecdotes about the actors who are performing in this fictitious musical.
The show is simply genius in it's execution and Bob Martin, The Man in the Chair, is the show itself. No need to go further on Beth Leavel's hilarious (and Tony Award winning) Drowsy Chaperone character or the rest of the sensational cast. Because of his interruptions, etc., you don't feel the 90 minutes at all. It breezes by quickly.
The music is all 20's pastiche, which is fun and quite memorable.

i highly reccomend this show! as others have said, its basically about a man who loves this 1920's musical called THE DOROWSY CHAPERONE. It comes to life in his apartment, and its absolutely HILARIOUS! my mom absolutely loved it, as did the rest of my family. The cast is exceptional, especially Sutton Foster, Danny Burnstein, Beth Leavel, and of course, Bob Martin.
So yeah, go see it, i know you'll love it!
:)
basically what everyone else said...

i love it!
& because of the show-with-a-show aspect, it works on many levels...some people can leave the theater feeling that they just saw a rollicking fun song-&-dance show;
others can feel they saw a bittersweet love letter to musical theater
...& some can see it as a sad & frighteningly close-to-home story about an emotionally dysfunctional agorphobic man who cant deal with the real world so he retreats into his fantasy musical!
