Here's another line that was changed:

Instead of Kitty asking Felzig to "Think of a number between 5 and 7," she went into a kind of trance and chanted, "Don't forget to buy milk, rye bread and to shave your legs!" And Felzig's response: "You're not reading my mind! You're reading your own mind!" To which Kitty said, "No wonder it was so easy!"

"Be on your guard! Jerks on the loose!"

That's funny! I like Kitty's character. We had such great Actors/Actress' in New York.

I am glad we now have that all straightened out. We can go back to trying to cast, the Man, in New York. I really like Conan, Colm and Don. None of them will ever really play the part but it is fun to imagine what they would do with it. :)

I think it's a Comic's role. It helps a lot if the person playing the part has done stand-up comedy or at least funny monologues. The Man rarely interacts with the cast on a conscious level, so he has to be able to carry his part almost alone throughout the Musical. I think that is what Bob meant in his interview from London. It makes more sense to me now.

Yes, I agree that a background in comedy as well as acting is a huge asset for exactly the reasons you mention. It's a deceptive thing because when the part is played well it looks effortless and off the cuff. But in reality it takes precise comic timing, the ability to act a fairly wide range of emotions, and incredible energy and stamina. I'm afraid we might be in for a very disturbing instance of stunt casting.

postergirl, I know you read the professional boards. When you say things like this, it comes true. I don't live in NYC, so I just get to suffer for at least six months but I was hoping "Drowsy" would still be in town when I could visit again.

I hope, for the sake of the cast members, that they can find someone who has the chops. Go see Jonathan Crombie while you can, just in case. Better to end on a happy note. Ha,ha, yeah, I said that.

I get to see the show in SF. I at least have something to look forward to!

I'm so glad someone agrees with my Conan love!! Him and Richter would be amazing in the role, though I have a special place in my heart for Conan as Harold Hill in The Music Man. Unfortunately he has no time, since he hosts an hour-long comedy show 5 nights a week.

Conan is just a great Comedian. I wish they could have lured him to Broadway but he is probably making very good money on his Late Night Show. I think Bob Saget will be funny in the role so that will take some of the pressure off of the understudies.

Drowsy has such a wonderful supporting cast and I want them to be able to work out their contracts as much as is financially feasible. There is still some life left in the show and many should find it enjoyable throughout the Holiday Season. It must look great when they dress it up for the Holidays.
