This is awesome! The announcement would certainly help cater to roadie Tony voters who I heard tend to vote as a block (roughly 100 of them so around 15%-20% of the vote).

Would be nice if it happens, but I'll believe it when I see it. The most comparable recent tour (a big-cast, long, dramatic play) was August: Osage County starring Estelle Parsons, which did 9 months in major cities. I wonder how it did financially?

It's not so much that they're coordinating to all vote for the same shows. But they tend to have commercial tastes, and they vote for the shows that will have the best chances for success on the road.
