The Frogs Recording

Posted: 1/29/05 at 1:18amI apologize if this has been brought up before, but has anyone heard the 2004 "The Frogs" recording yet? How does it measure up to the show? I loved the show, but I'm not sure if I want the CD. Thanks!

Posted: 1/29/05 at 3:27amI saw the show three times, but while listening to my Frogs CD, I'm catching very humorous lines I seem to have missed in the show. Of course, "I Love to Travel" is still one of my favorite songs. As I listen to my CD, I'm reminded of how much I enjoyed the show and this is the only way I'll be able to "attend another performance".

Posted: 1/29/05 at 3:38amI am one of those who did not love the show but I definitely love the recording. Sondheim's score sounds wonderful. Numbers that got lost in the choreography, like the First Act closer, "Frogs", sound amazing on the CD. Ditto the "Hymn to Dionysus" which had little effect on stage. Nathan and the cast shine, although Roger Bart isn't really the answer to the Xanthius problem - maybe it wasn't all Chris Kattan's fault, there truly isn't much to the role.
