Ok, I've read a lot of good feedback for an American production of this show, so do something about it. Yes, believe it or not, everyone here can make this happen. Stephen Schwarz was one of the composers/lyricists on the original movie, and he is really good about responding to feedback and requests of the fans of his work. If everyone here mass e-mailed him enough to make him take interest, a broadway show of Hunchback could happen. I figure he's the best route here being the Disney corporation has lost touch with their fan base for nearly a year now, and while Schwarz was just a composer, he is credited for bringing Wicked to broadway; whether you like it or not, it's the top grossing show right now. What does that amount to? The power to do something. Thanks for listening to the rant. Cheers.

wait... when I said Disney has lost touch with their fans for a year, I meant about a decade now. :-P

You're right, I think we should do a mass email to ole Schwartzy. I really want this show to happen.

I would pay to see it. I was saving up for Batman, but that fell through. And you know how much I love Batman (the movies and comics etc.) I think, from what I've heard though, it needs to be staged better. I hope it's wonderful - if it happens. I will write a good word to Schwartz. I am very good with words. And eatlasagne: I too have noticed Hellfire. It makes me wish that Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty) had a really devious song - or the Queen / Crone in Snow White. That wouldbe awesome. On the soundtrack, Hellfire is a lot longer and more creepy. The cut verses are even more daring and frightening than what ended up in the movie. He is practically threatening to kill her. It's a beautiful story, Hunchback in general, and I would love to see how it turns out. Little Mermaid would be good too. I have loved the film all my life. I knew nothing about Rapunzel though, (thanks for enlightening me), but I heard that Elton John and Tim Rice were working on Gnomeo and Juliet. What on earth is that?

The best recording I have ever heard of a Disney song is Laurie Beechman's rendition of Hunchback's Someday - absolutely gorgeous...Find it - it's worth it! There's usually a copy floating around on limewire or somewhere...I believe it is from the Time Between the Time album...I think I actually downloaded mine from one of those cheap downlaod sites along with some winners by Karen Akers! Denise Shapiro sings a medley of God Help the Outcasts and Someday and its woven beautifull together as a duet. It's on the Alan Menken albulm!

The Hunchback score is my favorite of the Disney/Menken shows. Of all of them, this one was screaming out to be put on stage. It's almost like watching musical theater to watch the film.

Also, the Hunchback segment in On the Record was worth the price of admission, but seemed a little heavy and out of place in the same show as Bibbidy Bobbidy Boo.
