The Layover

Anyone see this? Show-score is mixed on it and doesn't give much details on what it's like. Also says there's nudity, from who?

The Layover

I saw it Friday night and enjoyed it. Not ground breaking or anything.

^As the previous poster said it's enjoyable. I didn't see any nudity but ...

Annie Parisse gets down to her bra at one point and then bra and panties later. She does change bras onstage but has her back to the audience.

The Layover

I wanted to like this play, I really did. I just didn't - didn't laugh, didn't feel connected to any of the characters, didn't care about what happened to them. I enjoyed the lawyer because he seemed the most clearly defined. I've enjoyed Annie Parisse in everything I've seen her in, but I felt the writing did her a disservice and the last ten minutes of the show felt like they came out of nowhere, and not in a way that was emotionally or tonally satisfying.

I feel bad saying it, but it's the first time since "I and You" at 59E59 that I've disliked a play this much.

I liked "I & You" but agree that the endings of both plays are problematical.

The Layover

Does anyone happen to know the name of the song that Dex plays in the hotel room from his phone?

#7

The Layover

I just saw it today and found it trite and meaningless...at best. But the two leads are giving strong performances. But that's my opinion: I have no wish to yuck someone else's yum.

#8

The Layover

Unfocused, unsavory, and unsatisfying.

Soggy twists, credibility problems, a mess of an ending.

Can't recommend.

It was Hall & Oates. Don't remember the exact song but it was from the 80's. Maybe "I Can't Go For That"?

Did... anyone like this?

The Layover

I think people liked it, they just didn't love it. Annie Parisse shows a fair amount of skin if that's your thing.

The Layover

For once, After Eight is spot on. Just a horrible, soggy mess of a play. And that ending...

Bad.
