I will avoid my usual cynicism and just say that if you can stomach it, SEE IT. I didn't know what to expect (I remember not seeing it when it was on Broadway because I thought it was a drama) but I thought it was hilarious and very well-acted, with particularly strong perfs from Zoe Perry, Coby Getzug, and Brett Ryback. Chris Pine as Padraic might've been wishful thinking, but he does ok because the book is so strong on its own. Even a week into the run, the cast seems to have honed their comic timing enough to keep the (sold-out!) audience alternately laughing and shrieking in outrage all night. But I have to reiterate that this is definitely not a show for everyone (I believe the Music Center states it's for "18 & Up" only). I enjoy gallows humor myself, but I would warn that the first line of the play pertains to a decapitated cat, the bloody body of which is only one of many to be mocked and manhandled for the remainder of the evening. Don't sit in the front (I was so glad I was safe from the splash zone back in Section B, rather than sitting in my usual front-row, extreme-side seat that I usually get when I order Hot Tix). But again, I enjoyed it very much, and having seen all of them, this is definitely among the strongest productions since the Taper refurbishment a couple years ago.
