I recently saw The Light at the Piazza and let me say that it is the best work of art I have seen this season. Adam Guettel is brilliant. The music from the show actually had me closing my eyes and just listening at points. THE SCORE IS AMAZING! Helped by overwhelming orchestrations by the composer and Tod Sperling. The stage and the costumes transport you to Italy, NO QUESTION. The book is simply a perfect match for the show, an almost perfect marrage. Kathy O'Hara is captivating, Victoria Clark is just shy of perfect, Matthew Morrison is PHENOMINAL. The realism of the piece is astounding. The first song Morrison has is in all Italian and had me in love with the show right away. The show keeps it up through Fabrizio's family, who are just incredible. Mark Harelik (Fabrizio's father)is a treat to watch. Fabrizio's mother(Patti Cohenour) is a delight. Fabrizio's brother, Michael Berresse is The daughter in law, played by Sarah Uriarte Berry, is one of the most amazing women Ive seen in a featured role EVER!!!! The story is just magical and helps you remeber what art should be, up with Caroline, Or Change and Sunday in the Park with George. The people at The Lincoln Center are saints for continuing to support REAL ART in the theatre!!!! I emplore you to go out and see this show... tell all your friends to help make this a bigg succes so more shows like it can have success on Broadway.
