The Light in the Piazza artwork?

Is there any special reason why the artwork on the cast recording is so different from the artwork used on the playbills and for marketing the show when it was on Broadway? I much prefer the album artwork and was curious.

I much prefer McMullan's artwork and I hate that they didn't use it for the cast recording. It may have had something to do with them saving money by not having to pay McMullan, but that's pure speculation. I don't know the reason.
