This will probably get me excommunicated from BWW, but... I loved it.
Brilliant? Not by a long shot. Fun? Extremely.
At that performance, Chelsea Morgan Stock was on as Ariel and Jason Snow was on as Flotsam.
Stock was pretty near perfect as Ariel (or at least how I had pictured she would be). Her voice is gorgeous, and her belting is a little more... pleasant than Sierra Boggess (I find Boggess' belting to be harsh and general not pleasant to listen to). My only complaint that really has nothing to do with her would be (SPOILER?) during the first transformation, I think she got stuck on the tail. It seemed to take a long time and a lot of thrashing for it to fall off.
Rogelio Douglas Jr. was hilarious as Sebastian. I had never heard him sing and his voice is pretty powerful, but his acting is what did it for me. He was just so funny and charming, and (not going to lie, judge away) he got me a little teary-eyed during "If Only."
Heidi Blickenstaff's Ursula kind of stole the show, however. She looked and sounded amazing, and her comedic timing is perfect.
The sets are a whole lot nicer than they look in photos. I actually thought it looked very well done. Some of the costumes are pretty atrocious (*ahem* Flounder), but for the most part it wasn't that bad. The drowning effect would be cool if the wire wasn't so blatantly obvious.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what?
