The MET #1
Posted: 12/11/07 at 10:33pmI have a few questions about the MET. In big productions like "War & Peace" - how much do the chorus memebers get paid? Do they just hold open auditions?

The main members of the chorus are on salary and get a certain amount a year. They also get overtime if they work more than a certain amount of hours a day - if they are rehearsing a show and performing one the same night this happens a lot.
They also have an auxillary chorus that is used in really big pieces (like War and Peace) and they are paid by the hour.
How much each get - I have no idea.

Met Choristers get paid approximately $90,000/year.
NYC Opera - (except this season) - $60,000/year
