i just got my hands on The Magic Show OBC and found the DVD of the show on Amazon. Is this any good? I know its a somewhat revised version of the show, so what numbers are cut? Any info on this DVD would be greatly appriciated.

I have several names, one is Julian2. I am also The Opps Girl. But cross me, and I become Bitch Dooku!

There's a DVD of the stage production?

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

there's a live Doug Henning helmed Toronto stage production on DVD. but it's not The Magic Show like the Broadway production or something.

I actually own this DVD....

It's ok... I haven't watched it in a while, so I am trying to remember...

Solid Silver Platform Shoes (one of my favorite songs in that show) is not on the DVD. There is another number in its place. Also, There are new lyrics in "Style" that mention Barbara Streisand and possibly john Travolte (like i said, i havent watched it in a while)

Didi Cohn gives a nice performance and her rendition of "Lion Tamer" is sweet and sincere.

Its all right... From what I have heard about the Original Broadway Production, this is paired down and has lost some of its charm. Still, i enjoyed the DVD... Doug Henning's Magic was impressive. If it's not too expensive, i would say its worth it. It's nice to see a production of a show that is really not being done anywhere anymore.

For those who love the original score, the DVD is a HUGE disappointment. At least half the score cut and/or replaced. Solid Silver Platform Shoes and West End Avenue were replaced with new, more "family-friendly" songs (We're Gonna Need a Magician and Where Did the Magic Go, respectively), Charmin's Lament was rewritten and Goldfarb Variations was cut entirely.
