Well, if Tamsin did it, I think she'd be a big enough draw, but, who knows?
If you didn't get to see Sir Cameron Mackintosh and Gareth Gates on the Michael Ball show then below is a link where you can see... http://fb.me/DvbOqbii
I saw a few of last week's ones. God they are pretty dreadful but the heart is in the right place although anything that gives those sycophantic Ballettes publicity causes unease. But it hardly matters as it is at an odd time - perhaps designed to encourage the unemployed to get off their behinds, turn off the telly and seek work.
He is not that good a presenter although he is at least earnest and shows an interest in his guests but it is a lighter than lightweight tv show.
"although anything that gives those sycophantic Ballettes publicity causes unease."
As I said before each to their own. I will just clarify that I have not done one of the challenges myself, I'm not nearly brave enough. However those that have done them, responded to a direct request from the production company. Some guests have also done the challenges too.
Kerry Ellis and Brian May are performing and being interviewed this week (on Thurs) wonderful performance it was too.
I'm not sure when it's being recorded this week I assume, but Andrew Lloyd Webber and the cast of Love Never Dies are on the show being broadcast on the Fri 10th Sept.
On the 9th Sept Tony Christie and the cast of Dreamboats and Petticoats are on.
The stuff with the Ballettes is cringey and suggests a lack of faith in Michael's general appeal, which is a shame, because I do think he is widely liked, but regular fan stuff is naff.
I think Michael is a decent enough presenter, and they will be using the 3pm slot as a testing ground and to let him develop his skills. I can see it coming back at 5pm.
I can't say I watch every episode, but I've got it on my series link and dip in and out of it. The best bit is that Michael can give a decent interview to theatre folk instead of asking the same stock questions most interviewers ask. His enthusiasm is palpable, and it was very special seeing him introducing Gareth Gates singing Empty Chairs.
I'll make a point of watching the Ramin interview/performance, which should be good.
Also meant to say assuming the shows are broadcast as have been advertised. Lynda Baron is on the show Tues 7th September talking about playing Violet Carson in a new BBC4 drama. Not strictly theatre but thought it might be of interest to someone out there.
As for the challenges, they are not my favourite part of the show either, that said those who've done them are far braver than me :) wish I had half their nerve. lol!!
